Health & Safety Policy

Management at Outer Construction Inc. is committed to maintaining a healthy and safe workplace for its employees, sub-contractors, suppliers & visitors. Protection of everyone on site from injury will always be our continued objective. Outer Construction Inc. will make every reasonable effort to provide a safe and healthy environment. All members of management, supervision and workers are dedicated to continuing the objective of reducing the risk of injury.

All supervisors are held accountable for the health and safety of workers under their supervision. Management, supervisors, sub-contractors, customers, suppliers and visitors are required to comply with all statutory requirements concerning the health and safety of their workers.

Supervisors are responsible to ensure that all machinery, equipment and personal protective devices are in safe working condition and that workers comply with established workplace policies and procedures. Workers receive adequate training in their specific tasks to protect their health and safety. All workers protect their own safety by working in compliance with the law and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for construction projects as well as other applicable regulations and procedures established by Outer Construction Inc., its clients, and General Contractors

It is in the best interest of all parties to consider health and safety in all activities. Commitment to health and safety forms an integral part of this company from the president to the workers. It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure work practices are done in a safe manner.

​Safety is out Top Priority

  • All supervisors have taken the Supervisors Health & Safety in 5 Steps

  • All supervisors have their St. Johns Ambulance First Aid Training

  • Supervisors are required to hold weekly toolbox meetings at each job site

  • All employees are trained on the Workplace Health Management Information System (WHMIS 2015 & GHS)

  • All workers hold a certificate for Health & Safety in 4 Steps

  • Outer Construction Inc. holds an annual safety meeting

  • All Supervisors must complete the Construction Safety Associated of Ontario C.S.A.O Supervisor training course

  • All employees are given a presentation yearly on the “Guidelines for Excavating in the Vicinity of Gas Mains” as required by TSSA

  • Outer completes a yearly audit of our health and safety policies and procedures

  • Outer participates in the “Early Return to Work Policy” as recommended by the WSIB. This entails finding suitable work to accommodate injured wither if at all possible.

COVID-19 Pandemic

We at Outer Construction Inc. have made changes over the past few years on how we conduct our business in order to play our part in the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 to protect the health and safety of all employees, clients, customers, visitors and persons. We have put in place safeguards for our employees to ensure the safety and minimize the spread of COVID-19 so we can get back to our normal lives. This includes

  • Daily Preventative Measures Checklists

  • On-site Control measures for COVID-19 Hazards such as regular handwashing and continued disinfecting of tools, equipment, site trailers etc.

  • Newly enforced personal protective equipment requirements

  • Detailed plan for employees exposed to COVID-19
